Exomars 2020

European Space Agency

I have been involved on the Exomars visualisation since its concept phase in 2000. Since then I worked on it on and off to render the Rover, lander, orbiter, Mars environment and so on. One of the coolest robotic project I am working on!

Some different views highlighting

the rover and its instruments.

PORTFOLIO

  • ABOUT

    Hi,

I am working in scientific and technical visualisation in the Aerospace industry, currently as Technical Director and previously as head TD of ATG medialab.

I do create computer graphics visualisation for the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) and the European Space Agency (ESA).

I am passionate about 3D visulalisation and its correlation with Space Science. Continually challenging 3D technologies to research and innovate visuals, right from the conceptual design phase to the final rendering.

On this portfolio page, find some examples of my work; from actual projects as well as personal designs, all are computer generated imagery.

I'm always happy to meet and discuss possible collaborations.

ADM Aeolus

European Space Agency

ADM-Aeolus is the first space mission to acquire profiles of the wind on a global scale.  A nice satellite from the  Earth Explorer observation family. I had the chance to work with a very talented team from ESA on this.

The result is one image where the low pressure is entirely model from a mathematical model.

Schiaparelli

European Space Agency

The EXOMARS entry, descent and landing demonstrator module. This model was full of interesting details to pull off! One particularity was to simulate and model its thermal covering!

Expert mission

European Space Agency

The ESA experimental re-entry test-bed. Exploded view visualisations.

A fun personal project to de-assemble the topology "a la transformer!" It doesn't obviously happen this way!

Sentinel 6

European Space Agency

Mission with an advanced radar altimeter to monitor sea-level variability and the rate of sea-level rise. One of the latest Sentinel from Copernicus. its shape reminds me Cryosat. More to come in the future

SLSTR OLCI

European Space Agency

I made those technical view initially for me, and those became a must have at the agency for tech review.

One can clearly see the payload, instruments and harnessing of the system.

Rosetta-67P

European Space Agency

I began the visualisation of this mission for the Agency back in 2001 for the Rosetta launch campaign.

I have been fortunate enough to do its last simulation on comet 67P: a massive honour!

The Rosetta end of mission descent and landing on comet 67p.

Exomars 2016

European Space Agency

Schiaparelli’s descent to Mars and simulation. Despite its tragic ending, I had some challenging time to simulate the descent of the EDM and it's parachute deployment!

TGO

European Space Agency

Exomars Trace Gas Orbiter Searching for signature gases in the Martian atmosphere. TGO represent some interesting challenges from an Artistique POV, black thermal in black space environment...

Philae

European Space Agency-DLR

Rosetta lander on Comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. Philae landing: I could write a book on this one, where with a good ESA colleague of mine , I did and re-did multiple time the simulation of the landing...At the end it succeeds but not as planned! One great moment in my life this landing...

ESEO

European Space Agency

European Student Earth Orbiter micro-satellite mission to Low Earth Orbit by European students. Those small renders for Education are recharging my energy...When you make something for kids, it lights up everything...

Aladin

European Space Agency

Atmospheric Laser Doppler Instrument. Love this one...I don't know why. It was some work Maybe it is linked to its principal system engineer which himself is an extraordinary creative space anomaly...Anyway can't wait to see this one launch in 2018.

Sentinel 2

European Space Agency

Copernicus colour vision :

The mission will mainly provide information for agricultural and forestry practices and for helping manage food security. As his project manager once told me: "One of the best camera in space", this satellite and its team was truly a pleasure  to work with.

Exomars Rover

European Space Agency

Some early rendering of the ExoMars rover. I believe those date back form 2010 or so. The motion mechanism and its payload were being updated.

Tropomi S5P

European Space Agency

Sentinel 5P Copernicus  global air monitoring. This instrument visualisation was a great challenge: 4 UV channels some multiple lenses and a some complex light path to display but a great success after all!

Sentinel 3

European Space Agency

Sentinel-3 will measure systematically Earth’s oceans, land, ice and atmosphere to monitor and understand large-scale global dynamics. Remember my comment on the black sat on black space...?Same character but his time on earth with some heavy rendering fires and algae bloom!

Exomars B1

European Space Agency

Robotic exploration:

The cornerstone of ESA's Aurora exploration programme is ExoMars.

This is one of the render which is not looking too bad back in time!!!

Still: a box on 6 wheels by then!

Eurobot ISS

European Space Agency

Meteron : Eurobot visualisation on ISS. This was really a great robotic project: Eurobot. It never saw the light so far but a great 3 arms robot!

Nauka ISS

European Space Agency

Multipurpose Laboratory Module (MLM) visualisation with ERA on International Space Station.

Some heavy rendering and mat painting for me on this!

Hershel Planck

European Space Agency

Herschel Space Observatory collect long-wavelength radiation.

Planck Mapping the relic radiation from the Big Bang. Every time I see this rendering its remind me the true labour on its internal thermal covering (Aluminium one). It was back then a huge effort!
